Board of Director FAQ’s

As a director, you would be required to participate in approximately two face-to-face board meetings each year – one in the spring and one in the fall. There will also be approximately two to three conference calls each year. During the year, directors will be asked to serve on various Task Forces and participate in the planning and execution of goals and initiatives.

As a board member, your role is critical to the success of the organization. Your commitment will support the continuous improvement of the association to ensure that programs and services are targeting the needs of the membership.


Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Board Members are expected to attend the Annual Convention
  • 3-Year Term with opportunity to extend term as a Director and/or Officer Position
  • Responsible to author one article {with support of editorial staff} a year
  • Board members are responsible for transportation to and from all meetings and conference. NAFCD will sponsor lodging & food and beverage at spring meeting only
  • Responsible to participate in 2 Face-to-Face Meetings (Spring in Chicago, and Fall the day before convention begins).There will be 2 to 3 additional Board conference calls during the year lasting one-hour in duration.
  • Board members responsible for conference registration
  • Serve as a members of committee or task force
  • Advanced preparation for each Board Meeting
  • Serve as Ambassador for NAFCD
  • New Directors take office at the NAFCD Annual Breakfast meeting held at convention. It generally takes place on the opening day of convention (Wednesday)
