NAFCD 2013 Call for Nominations Closing Soon

This is the last week to submit your nominations for the NAFCD 2013-2014 Board of Directors, as well as the 2013 NAFCD Leadership in Action and Lifetime Achievement Awards. All three nomination processes represent opportunities to recognize leaders in the floor covering industry. Nominations will be accepted through September 6, 2013.

NAFCD Board of Directors
Serving on the NAFCD Board of Directors provides the opportunity to play a leadership role within the industry. Board members' roles are critical to the success of NAFCD. Supporting the continuous improvement of the association to ensure that programs and services are targeting the needs of the membership is essential to this role.

NAFCD Leadership in Action Award Nominations
The Leadership in Action Award recognizes individuals for the positive impact and meaningful contributions that they have made to their company's success. This is an opportunity to highlight a future leader within your company. The award recipient will receive a scholarship towards enrollment in the University of Industrial Distribution (UID) program held each spring.

NAFCD Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations
For exceptional leadership or outstanding contributions that have led to expanding the vision of the floor covering distribution industry, this award is presented to any individual that meets the criteria, regardless of membership in NAFCD.

Award winners will be announced at the 2013 NAFCD + NBMDA Annual Convention, taking place November 12-14, in Chicago, Illinois. Terms for the board of directors begin in November 2013 Learn more about all nomination processes at www.nafcd.org or by contacting info@nafcd.org.

NAW Update - New Employer Obligation Takes Effect on October 1, 2013

The Affordable Care Act's requirement that employers notify their employees of the health coverage options available to them in the new Health Insurance Marketplace (Exchanges) goes into effect on October 1, 2013. If you are an employer covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this new obligation applies to you.

Become a Leader in NAFCD

The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) is calling on its members to submit nominations for the 2013-2014 NAFCD Board of Directors, as well as the 2013 NAFCD Leadership in Action and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

All three nomination processes represent opportunities to recognize leaders in the floor covering industry. Submissions are due by September 6, 2013.

NAFCD Board of Directors
As a board member, your role is critical to the success of the organization. Your commitment will support the continuous improvement of the association to ensure that programs and services are targeting the needs of the membership. Lifetime Achievement Award
For exceptional leadership or outstanding contributions that have led to expanding the vision of the floor covering distribution industry, this award is presented to any individual that meets the criteria, regardless of membership in NAFCD. Winners of the NAFCD Lifetime Achievement Award are to be announced at the NAFCD Annual Convention. We encourage both our Manufacturer and Distributor members to consider this opportunity. Leadership in Action Award
The Leadership in Action Award recognizes individuals for the positive impact and meaningful contributions that they have made to their company's success. NAFCD Quarterly Executive Trends Index Available

NAFCD has partnered with a leading research firm to provide you with the NAFCD Quarterly Executive Trends Index. The report is based on member data submission and provides valuable benchmarking and forecasting data. You can compare the results of your company with key trends identified by your fellow NAFCD members.

This data and analysis is available exclusively to NAFCD members. View the first report here.

Your input will be requested for the second report which will be available in October and presented at the 2013 NAFCD + NBMDA Annual Convention during Mark Herbek's session, Trends in the Building Product Supply Chain. With your participation in the Quarterly Executive Trends Index survey, a larger amount of data can be aggregated for better comparison and analysis.

In addition to the Quarterly Executive Trends Index, NAFCD's new partnership provides you with access to research on home centers, residential construction, non-residential construction, industrial distribution and other related topics. These industry updates and insights will be provided monthly and are available in the Members Only section of the website, username and password required.

 

2013 Performance Index Survey Deadline Extended to August 26!

The best source of financial benchmarks for the industry is the NAFCD Performance Index. This report presents a wealth of financial and operating guidelines. In addition, it provides direct comparisons between your firm and other participating firms. This valuable information is, however, only available to firms that participate in the study.

Last Chance to Participate in 2013 Performance Index Survey - Submissions Due August 15

Now it's even easier to participate!

In our continuing efforts to deliver the value our members expect from their industry organization, NAFCD is pleased to present a new and improved version of the very popular Performance Index Benchmarking Report. Thanks to those members that have taken the time to provide feedback to improve this popular tool.

We are pleased to highlight the following improvements:

  • Clarification and further definition to support key areas of the survey
  • Modification of survey questions to better reflect changes that have taken place within the industry.
  • The Profit Planning Group will now complete the financial sections of the survey if you simply submit a copy of your company's financial statements along with the survey.
  • The Profit Planning Group will also host a webinar to discuss the final report. This will provide participants another opportunity to interact with Dr. Bates, gain a better understanding of specific areas of the report, and learn how to better interpret the data. You must participate in the survey to be invited to attend the webinar and/or view the recorded version.

NAFCD Quarterly Executive Trends Index

In an effort to increase the value of information we provide to our members, the North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors and the North American Building Material Distribution Association have partnered to develop a valuable benchmarking and forecasting tool.

We are excited to announce the launch the NBMDA / NAFCD Quarterly Executive Trends Index! NBMDA/NAFCD has compiled a BRIEF quarterly online survey. This survey will be sent tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9th. Please look for this email.

All survey responses are anonymous and confidential with responses aggregated only to identify key trends in the industry (sales growth for the industry, inventory levels, changes in operating costs, etc.).

The full survey results will be sent back to members in late July and will provide you and your organization with actionable information you can put to use in your business month to month.

We hope your company can commit 5-10 minutes each quarter to fill out the survey. The debut survey will take slightly longer to complete as we attempt to secure some historical data for comparison purposes going forward. We look forward to your participation!

Providing Essential Values to Grow Your Business

You will likely agree that a lot of changes are taking place in the floor covering industry today and NAFCD, your industry association, is pleased to partner with you on this journey.

In response to these changes, NAFCD has launched a new website and redesigned the association's logo. Our new logo provides a fresh and modern representation of the association while still highlighting our core values of Trends, Education, Leadership and Networking.

Our new website is easier to navigate and includes new features that allow members and non-members alike to find pertinent information. Members can login to view the most recent research reports and partnership details, as well as access a full list of distributor and manufacturer members.

Please take a moment to access the members-only section of the site. You may utilize your current user id and password to access this information. In the event that you have forgotten this information, the system will guide you through prompts to reset this data. You may also contact NAFCD headquarters at info@nafcd.org for assistance.

Please note that when registration for the NAFCD+NBMDA Annual Convention becomes available in the coming weeks, your user id and password associated with the NAFCD website will provide you access to register for the event - so make sure you test it out today! As always, we welcome your feedback. As you peruse the site and begin to set up your profile and preferences, please feel free to provide us with any feedback on your experience.

In the coming days, more exciting changes will be announced. Watch your mailbox for the latest updates. A small token of appreciation - an NAFCD luggage tag - will be included with this mailing. We hope you display the tag with pride!
